Our founders, Gurudev Karanth, Shubhasheesh Anand, and Mohit Bhasin are passionate about how data influences business growth.
We want to help data-driven professionals in eCommerce and D2C brands, the opportunity to leapfrog the grunt-work of tedious, repetitive, and incomplete data explorations to answer the fundamental “what” and “why” questions. Our combined backgrounds in Product Management, Data Analytics, Engineering, and Data Sciences have equipped us with the required domain understanding & technical know-how to incorporate OTB into your business goals.

The seasoned founding team at Out of the Blue has lived experiences working at companies like Google, eBay and Paypal and degrees from Stanford, Berkeley, and Booth. We are a small team spread across the Bay Area and Pune, fueled by our passion for problem-solving.

Gurudev Karanth

CEO/Head of Product

Organic farming, cooking, electronic music, trekking and mixology are interests that Gurudev nurtures. A hands-on executive leader and innovator, he has set up three start-ups before Out of the Blue.

His experience includes building and operating high-performance teams and identifying ‘green-shoots’. With over 25 years of experience to back him up, Gurudev ensures that his teams have the freedom to express and this inspires them to perform. He has successfully designed and engineered stand-alone self-serve scalable products.

Gurudev has built large-scale optimised data systems for eCommerce and Fintech companies. He used his learnings to identify and build products using lean product principles. He is comfortable using open-source, containerised, cloud-enabled components and distributed computing tech to leverage technologies with CI paradigms to solve key business problems

A Computer Science graduate, Gurudev majored in Artificial Intelligence and Distributed Systems. As a skilful communicator, he has participated in big data and digital transformation conferences. He is a multi-patent holder, a thought leader in retail, digital, marketing and IOT. He has been able to capitalise and deliver on data science technologies.

Shubhasheesh Anand

Head of Sales

Numbers, logic, rhythm, tempo- four words that share a deeper connection in a brain tuned-in to music. And analytics! There is a pattern to the way the beats in music relates to the numbers floating around in analytics. Listening to music gets Shubhasheesh to unwind and relax or at times even to focus on the task at hand. “I love listening to music and hiking. I do sing old Kishore songs”, confesses the ardent Bollywood songs fan.

He has a little over two decades in innovation and building products for the world stage. He started his career at Yahoo! when he helped set up the India Development Centre and brought innovation to the display advertising business in the US (remember Smart Ads and Delivery Algorithms?). Since then, he has worked on predictive analytics in the B2B2C sector. A start-up where he led the product and solutions team landed at Google. He has leveraged machine learning and experimentation to create business impact at Groupon. He has built and sold analytics products to Verizon and PNC Bank for their conversion funnel optimisation and autonomous analytics needs. A multi patent holder, Shubhasheesh has worked to make analytics interesting. He is a B.Tech in CSE (Computer Science and Engineering) from IIT Delhi and also has an MS from Stanford University and lives in the Bay Area.

Mohit Bhasin

Head of Data Science

With the waves and wind are where you can find Mohit ‘Mo’ Bhasin. A late entrant into the world of kiteboarding, Mo walks the edge both on water and with numbers. The fatigue from handling ad hoc SQL queries and chaotic fire drills— first at Nest and then at Google— inspired him to ‘fix BI’.

Mo’s ‘can-do’ attitude and diverse skills sets helps him build human-centric data products. As a former editor-in-chief for his school newspaper, Chicago Business, Mo loves to write and has a penchant for good documentation. He has presented at data science conferences and volunteered as a calculus instructor in prison.

He holds a BS in Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley and an MBA in Statistics and Econometrics from the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business.

Jaidev Karanth

Head of Engineering

Jaidev marks off a workday with a chapter from his current book of choice or music. This could include any genre from ambient through electronica to psychedelic music. On days when time permits, he goes for a trek or hikes along a trail. Building scalable platforms on cloud and working on the security domain at Out of the Blue keeps him grounded. With over 20 years of experience, Jaidev’s focus centers around building scalable platforms and ensuring a constant and consistent approach to the mantra – Learn. Use. Measure. Repeat.

In his prior role, Jaidev led the technology team at Persistent Systems, focused on IBM & Red Hat. On Cloud implementations, he has built infrastructure clouds, migrated complex applications to run on cloud and developed cloud-native solutions.
Today, as Head of SaaS Platform, he is responsible for building and operating multi-tenant cloud platforms. Preparation is key, he insists, both on a trek and in building next-gen platforms. When the journey is more important than the destination, having the perfect team makes all the difference.

Nagi Bombhore

Head of Customer Success Solutions

Nagi Bombhore’s interests include, playing the guitar, calming frayed nerves and building relationships. His superpower is patience. Acquired through years of negotiations and discussions. Always ready for a road trip, he leads Customer Success Solutions at Out of the Blue.

Nagi has delivered analytics solutions to large eCommerce and retail businesses. He understands customer pain points and addresses it using analytics and data engineering technologies. He uses technology combined with attention to detail to create unique breakthrough product advancements leading to enhanced customer satisfaction.

Nagi’s passion to solve delivery issues ensures that he builds cross-border highly-motivated teams to enable his clients. Every satisfied client provides further validation that he is doing things right.
